Gallery Sitka Newport Announces “Globe Trotting,” a Solo Exhibition by Jerrell Angell
Opening Reception May 1; On View Through June 5
NEWPORT, R.I. (April 2026) —Gallery Sitka announces, “Globe Trotting,” a solo exhibition by contemporary artist Jerrell Angell, opening May 1 at its Newport location inside Newport Wine Cellar & Gourmet. The exhibition will be on view through June 5.
An opening reception will be held May 1 at 4:30 p.m., featuring an art and wine experience as part of the gallery’s ongoing Art & Wine series. The event is free and open to the public.
“Globe Trotting” presents a collection of watercolor paintings inspired by Angell’s international work as an architect and designer. His pieces explore global landscapes, architectural forms and cultural impressions, blending realism and abstraction. Drawing from decades of travel across Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, Angell’s work reflects a deep engagement with place, structure and movement.
A Newport-based artist with more than 35 years of experience in architecture, Angell has shifted his focus in recent years to fine art, using watercolor as his primary medium. His work captures the essence of cities and environments shaped by history, design and human experience.
Presented by Gallery Sitka, the exhibition continues the gallery’s mission to connect contemporary art with community-centered experiences. Located in the heart of Newport, the gallery curates rotating exhibitions that highlight regional and international artists.
