SUMMARY:“Seen and Imagined” — Clara Dennison | Solo WCA Show
DESCRIPTION:Seen and Imagined\, a solo exhibition by Westminster-based artist Clara Dennison\, is now on view at 873 Café\, presented by Gallery Sitka. The exhibition features a curated collection of original monotypes and paintings created in oils\, acrylics and watercolors\, offering refined\, nature-inspired artwork well suited for residential interiors\, hospitality spaces and commercial environments. \nDennison’s work reflects an intuitive\, layered approach to exploring landscape\, memory and imagination. Known for richly textured surfaces and expressive\, harmonious color palettes\, her paintings appeal to interior decorators and designers seeking contemporary fine art that brings warmth\, organic movement and a sense of place into thoughtfully designed interiors. \nA member of the WCA\, Dennison creates artwork informed by deep personal connections to nature and by environments that hold lasting emotional significance. Her paintings and monotypes resonate with collectors\, design professionals and art consultants interested in elevated\, timeless pieces that complement modern\, transitional and nature-inspired design aesthetics. \nRaised on a farm in a small New England town\, Dennison draws inspiration from childhood memories spent among apple orchards\, forests and wetlands. Those early experiences — exploring ravines\, climbing lichen-covered rocks and creating hidden sanctuaries in the woods with her six siblings — continue to shape her creative practice and visual language. \n“To me the forest was like an enormous haven full of endless secrets and mysteries\,” Dennison said. “It was a place where imagination thrived and where I always felt safe\, surrounded by nature’s warmth.” \nDennison now lives and works in Westminster\, Massachusetts\, where she spends many hours gardening\, landscaping and hiking in nearby woods. These daily interactions with the natural environment inform work that translates beautifully into interior spaces\, offering designers original artwork that evokes calm\, connection and quiet sophistication. \nFor Dennison\, the act of seeing is rooted in intuition. Through layered textures and nuanced color\, her creative process allows for surprise and discovery\, encouraging viewers to engage with both the visible and the imagined — qualities that make her work especially compelling for interior design projects seeking meaning as well as visual impact. \nExhibition Details \nSeen and Imagined\nSolo exhibition by Clara Dennison\nOn view in 2026\, Friday\, April 10 – Friday\, June 5\n873 Café\, presented by Gallery Sitka\n873 Main St.\, Ashby\, MA \nArtist Reception \nSunday\, April 12\n2–4 p.m.\n873 Café\, presented by Gallery Sitka\n873 Main St.\, Ashby\, MA \nMore information about the exhibition and available artwork can be found at:\nhttps://www.artsy.net/show/gallery-sitka-seen-and-imagined-clara-dennison-873-cafe \nFree.\nOpen to the Public. \nThe Work will be up until June.

SUMMARY:Véronique Sapin | The Season of Symptons — Art & Wine | Newport
DESCRIPTION:This collection of five works from Véronique Sapin’s “Symptoms” series spotlights her adept use of ink. The peaceful movement in each piece is reminiscent of her skill as a performance dancer. \nThese works are on display during September at 5 Merton Road in Newport\, RI. \nRead the PR: \nFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE \nFrench Artist Véronique Sapin Brings Contemporary Ink Works to Newport \nNEWPORT\, R.I. — Gallery Sitka South will present an exhibition of work by French visual artist Véronique Sapin from Sept. 6 through Oct. 2 at 5 Merton Road in Newport\, Rhode Island. The exhibition offers Newport visitors an opportunity to experience Sapin’s distinctive contemporary ink paintings\, rooted in movement\, balance\, chance and the expressive possibilities of ink. \nBorn in Rive-de-Gier\, France\, in 1960 and now based in Cugnaux\, France\, Sapin is an internationally exhibited visual artist whose multidisciplinary practice includes video\, photography\, installations\, artist books and ink painting. Since 1995\, her work has been presented in more than 240 events in 40 countries\, including galleries\, museums\, art centers\, biennials and festivals. \nAt the center of Sapin’s ink practice is the drop of ink. Working on raw canvas or paper\, she allows the liquid medium to generate lines\, tracks and forms while carefully influencing its movement. She describes the process as a balance between anticipating what the ink will do and responding when it takes an unexpected direction. The resulting works explore rhythm\, movement\, tension and the constantly shifting relationship between control and chance. \nSapin’s approach is informed in part by her background in dance\, which she practiced intensively for 15 years. Movement\, its traces and its memory have remained central questions throughout her artistic career. Her experience with video editing and digital manipulation has also influenced the way she approaches her ink paintings\, allowing her to consider the works as evolving compositions rather than fixed gestures. \nWhile living in Singapore\, Sapin studied ink painting with artist Lim Choon Jin\, developing the mastery of the medium that characterizes her current work. Her practice reflects a sustained fascination with what happens when an artist gives a material room to move while still maintaining an intentional relationship with the final composition. \nSapin is also the curator\, co-founder and coordinator of FemLink-Art\, an international women artists collective founded in 2005. The collective has included 143 artists from 63 countries and has developed partnerships with institutions including UNESCO. \nThe Newport exhibition continues Gallery Sitka’s commitment to bringing contemporary art and international artists to Rhode Island. Gallery Sitka’s Newport residency features monthly exhibitions at Newport Wine Cellar & Gourmet\, providing a rotating destination for art lovers\, collectors and visitors exploring Newport’s creative community. \nVisitors can view Sapin’s work at Gallery Sitka South\, 5 Merton Road\, Newport\, R.I.\, from Sept. 6 through Oct. 2. The Newport location is open daily from noon to 6 p.m. \nFor more information about Véronique Sapin and Gallery Sitka’s Newport exhibitions\, visit Gallery Sitka online. \nAbout Gallery Sitka \nGallery Sitka is a woman-owned and operated New England art gallery with locations in Shirley\, Massachusetts\, and Newport\, Rhode Island.
