DESCRIPTION:Join us for a wonderful exhibition of work by female New England artist\, Rachel Brask. Gallery Sitka will be featuring this Ms. Brask at 5 Merton Rd. in Newport\, Rhode Island during the month of March. \nRachel Brask is a contemporary abstract/impressionist New England painter. Her current work explores the sensation of looking out through windows during torrential rains. Through these “Abstracted Rainy Moments” paintings\, Brask seeks to show people a fresh\, hopeful perspective on rainy days. She has exhibited in solo exhibitions\, invitational and juried shows around New England and in private collections across the U.S. and in the UK and Italy. She has developed her work at artist residencies in Maine\, North Carolina\, Cape Cod\, and Ontario\, Canada. \nShe has received recognition for her paintings and unique perspective on rainy days. Rachel Brask enjoys working on painting commissions and sharing her love of art through teaching workshops and private art lessons. Known for richly textured surfaces and expressive\, harmonious color palettes\, her paintings appeal to interior decorators and designers seeking contemporary fine art that brings warmth\, organic movement and a sense of place into thoughtfully designed interiors. \nA member of the WCA\, Dennison creates artwork informed by deep personal connections to nature and by environments that hold lasting emotional significance. Her paintings and monotypes resonate with collectors\, design professionals and art consultants interested in elevated\, timeless pieces that complement modern\, transitional and nature-inspired design aesthetics. \nRaised on a farm in a small New England town\, Dennison draws inspiration from childhood memories spent among apple orchards\, forests and wetlands. Those early experiences — exploring ravines\, climbing lichen-covered rocks and creating hidden sanctuaries in the woods with her six siblings — continue to shape her creative practice and visual language. \n“To me the forest was like an enormous haven full of endless secrets and mysteries\,” Dennison said. “It was a place where imagination thrived and where I always felt safe\, surrounded by nature’s warmth.” \nDennison now lives and works in Westminster\, Massachusetts\, where she spends many hours gardening\, landscaping and hiking in nearby woods.
