Shira Toren — Artist’s Biography
Studio: Brooklyn, NY
Born: Tel-Aviv, Israel  | 1957

Shira Toren is an American-Israeli Visual Artist. Born in Tel-Aviv, she moved to New York City to study fine art and design. Toren received her BFA from the Pratt Institute and An Associate Degree in Art Therapy from The New School. She Attended classes in Painting and Printmaking at The Art Students League, NYC.

Her work explores personal and global themes that reflect upon the environment. The Abstract Monochromatic paintings are process-oriented. Using an eclectic method, uniquely developed by Toren, she rubs graphite powder, pigments, and ink onto Venetian plaster substrates.

Ms.Toren is currently working at her studio in Red-Hook Brooklyn. Toren’s work has been exhibited in galleries and museums nationally and internationally.
