Newport, R.I., May 28, 2025 – Gallery Sitka® and Newport Wine Cellar & Gourmet announce the next monthly “2nd Fridays/All You Need is Art & Wine” celebration. The upcoming group show on Friday, June 13 from 4:30-6pm is themed “Summer Solstice.”

This reception will be held at Newport Wine Cellar & Gourmet’s The Tasting Room located adjacent to the flagship shop at 5 Merton Road, Newport. “All You Need is Art & Wine” is free and open to all.

Gallery Sitka®, in permanent residence at The Tasting Room, adorns the walls with contemporary art, offers rotating monthly exhibits and artist-attended opening receptions.

Gallery Sitka® owner Tamar Russell Brown, states, “Gallery Sitka® has been doing exhibits all over the North East since 2014 and we proudly represent the work of more than twenty painters, sculptors, encaustic artists, photographers, and jewelry designers from New England, New York, France, Italy, and Brazil. This month at The Tasting Room we are selecting works from our many artists which speak to the Summer Solstice theme.”

All are invited to experience The Tasting Room, an extension of NWC&G’s select artisanal wines and specialty foods. Newly added home decor offers a private selection of Mid-Century Modern pieces and iconic and emerging designs for the home. All art, furniture, wine and food are available for purchase.

Local artists are encouraged to submit work for upcoming art shows at The Tasting Room. The Gallery Sitka website is now open for submissions where artists can upload their bios, artist statements, and recent works at gallerysitka.com/newport-wine-cellar.

Gallery Sitka/Newport Announces Jerrell Angell Solo Exhibit

Opening Reception Saturday, September 7, 2-4 pm

Newport, RI, September 3, 2024 – Gallery Sitka announces a solo exhibition with Jerrell Angell; the opening reception is free to the public Saturday, September 7 from 2-4pm. Gallery Sitka/Newport is located on the corner of Spring and Franklin Streets; the show will be displayed through the end of September.

Jerrell Angell is an architect and artist working and living in Boston and Newport, Rhode Island.  His architectural experience includes more than 35 years working on high profile international projects – universities, office towers, hospitals, and movement buildings – located mostly in the Middle East and North Africa. Recently he has pursued his interest in watercolor painting,  covering a wide variety of topics – landscapes, still lifes, cityscapes, and architectural themes.  His work ranges from realistic to abstract, still-life to cityscapes.

Jerrell is registered as an architect in Massachusetts and Rhode Island and is NCARB accredited. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Studio Art from Washington and Jefferson College, a Master of City Planning Degree from The Ohio State University, and a Master of Architecture Degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
