PR: A CONTEMPORARY ODE TO MONET — Gallery Sitka/Shirley Announces Solo Exhibit by Dutch-Romanian artist, Rux Darie
Shirley, MA, October 25, 2023 – Gallery Sitka announces its latest exhibition, A CONTEMPORARY ODE TO MONET by Rux Darie which runs November 17 through December 7. All are welcome to a free reception with the artist on Friday, November 17, 5:30-7:30pm at Gallery Sitka, 2 Shaker Road in Shirley.
In this collection, Rux Darie, a Romanian-Dutch artist who lives and works in Massachusetts, pays homage to Claude Monet and his ethereal landscapes.
Ms. Darie offers, “Monet’s ability to capture the essence of a scene with fleeting, dappled strokes has always fascinated me. His play with light and color transcends the representational, inviting viewers into an immersive experience of nature’s ever-changing moods. In my work, I take Monet’s legacy as a departure point. Drawing inspiration from his evocative style, I am interested in a reinterpretation through abstraction.”
Rux Darie graduated from Academy of Fine Arts in Arendonk – Belgium and has exhibited her works in The Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, Romania, Hungary, Canada, and the US. In recent years, Ms. Darie has shifted from representational art to abstract art. For her, the viewer’s interpretation and engagement with her work is an integral part of the creative process, transforming the artwork into a collaborative effort between herself and the audience.
