Gallery Sitka Announces Solo Show by Dutch-Romanian artist, Rux Darie

Sunday, April 9, 2 – 4 PM, Open to all 

Newport, R.I., April 4, 2023 – Newport’s Gallery Sitka announces a solo show by Dutch-Romanian artist, Rux Darie, called “Dutch Bloom” on Sunday, April 9, from 2 – 4pm.  The reception is free and open to all.

Gallery Sitka owner, Tamar Russell Brown offers, “The timing is perfect to share “Dutch Bloom” with Newport when we are teetering on the precipice of Spring and craving Spring color. So come by our Spring Street gallery for a color immersion.”

Artist, Rux Darie, who will be in attendance at Gallery Sitka on Sunday, explains, “I am deeply interested in the role that colors play in evoking emotions and provoking reactions. I use vibrant and dynamic hues to create a sense of movement and energy on the canvas, drawing inspiration from the natural environment. The beautiful flower fields in The Netherlands that bloom at this time each year inspire this exhibit and my aim is to capture the essence of these natural wonders in a way that is universal. I would like my paintings to transport viewers to these places, allowing them to experience the same sense of awe and tranquility, regardless of their physical location.”

Rux Darie is a Dutch-Romanian artist who lives and works in Massachusetts. Darie studied art at Kunst Academie Arendonk in Belgium and has exhibited her works in The Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, Romania, Hungary, Canada, as well as the US.
