Rebekah Robinson – Artist’s Statement

The landscape has been an overarching theme in my work throughout my career. Patterns and patterning are of continued interest, and while the natural patterns of leaves floating on a still pond draw my attention, I am equally fascinated by the human-made patterns of field plantings, mowings and gardens.

At times, I have focused on the intimate details — the petals of a flower, the detritus in a flowing stream, the reflections of water. These paintings are representative of a broader view of nature and the inherent larger scope of my natural surroundings living in Colorado and traveling in the American Southwest and Europe.
