Gallery Sitka® is a woman-owned and operated New England art gallery. Gallery Sitka® is located in Shirley, MA & also in Newport, RI. The gallery has been doing pop-ups all over the North East U.S. since 2014. The Gallery’s focus is abstract art. Gallery Sitka® represents the work of 20+ painters, sculptors, encaustic artists, and a few jewelry designers from New England, New York, Brazil, France & Italy.

The painting medium I use is casein, which is an opaque water-base paint. The advantages are that casein dries fast, needs no special solvents and, since it is opaque, colors can be overlaid very easily.

I am interested in how “story” works in our experience of ourselves. We are inherent story makers in the sense that our experiences become stories when they move to memory.

Gallery Sitka’s latest exhibition, “Off Season” by Mary Ann Rossoni opens with a reception on Sunday, December 1, 2-4pm at Gallery Sitka in Newport, on the corner of Spring and Franklin Streets. On the following Sunday, December 8, the exhibit will also be one of the stops on the Newport Art Trolley & Gallery Stroll. The reception and the trolley are free and open to the public. The show will be up through the end of December.
