Title: “Spirit Bird”

Medium: The sculpture is made of alabaster and placed on a granite base.

“The piece was “direct carved” which means I didn’t use a model. I studied the stone, envisioned a bird in the stone, and then the forms evolved as I carved. To make the eye, I tried various beads and finally settled on a black bead of obsidian.”
