There is a moment when art begins to breathe and I completely forget that I’m the one who made it. This birthing releases the work to begin its work to seamlessly influence others.

Carolyn Todd’s paintings present a naturalist’s view of the landscape. Elsa Voelcker makes traditional black-and-white photographic portraits and color nature scenes. C.M. Judge’s artwork is based on an extended gaze that recognizes the interconnectedness of all things. Susan Wadsworth’s modern abstract pastel landscapes are inspired by her sense of place. Sue Norton’s pieces are quintessentially self-portraits that describe her personal truth. Joanne Stowell’s artwork centers on the theme of a realistic representation of motherhood. Ruth Nelson’s photographs are a conscious evocation of experience inspired by Buddhist teachings. Helen Obermeyer Simmons’ images are inspired by her ancestry and are created in the historical photographic processes of cyanotype and Van Dyke brown.

The Women’s Caucus for Art was founded in 1972 in connection with the College Art Association. WCA is committed to recognizing the contribution of women in the arts. It is a national organization unique in its multidisciplinary, multicultural membership of artists, art historians, students, educators, and museum professionals.

All questions regarding the artwork or artists in the show should be directed to Chapter Chair Helen Obermeyer Simmons (northfieldstudio@yahoo.com) or Co-chair Carolyn Todd (carolyn@thetoddreport.com). Sales will be conducted by Gallery Sitka. View the show at gallerysitka.com/underthebed
