Description: Island Oasis is part of the Island series. I love flying and I have always wanted to be able to fly over the ocean in a small plane so I could be high enough to see the islands from above but low enough to see all the texture of the topography. The Island series is the imaginary trip in a small plane over the island of my dreams. The water is so blue and you can see the rocks of the mountains that were formed from the volcanic eruptions. But the islands are peaceful now, with the water lapping on the shore and the breeze blowing through the trees. You can climb those mountains and look out over the ocean in your own little paradise.
The texture is both visible and tactile. The painting is done on a 2″ deep gallery wrapped canvas so no frame is needed. Glass would not be advisable. You could do a plain frame with no glass if desired. It has D rings and wire so it is completely ready for hanging. The texture is done with a combination of many types of media. Molding paste, cheesecloth, and a special technique using Tyvek, along with sand. The water effects are done with acrylic inks in many layers applied and the painting tilted back and forth to simulate the flow of water.
